The brief we set ourselves
Someone looking for a lawyer is rarely browsing for fun. They have a problem, it is probably urgent, and they are deciding whether to trust a stranger with it. Most law firm sites answer with a stock photo of a handshake and a wall of Latin.
This showcase takes the opposite route: authority through clarity. Each practice area gets its own plain-language page: what the firm handles, how a typical engagement runs, and how fees work (hourly, flat or capped, stated openly rather than hidden behind “contact us for a quote”). A visitor should be able to answer “can they help me, and roughly what will it cost?” in under a minute.
Decisions worth copying
- A process page, not just a promise. First consultation, document review, strategy, resolution, all laid out as numbered steps. Clients fear the unknown more than the fee; showing the path removes both objections at once.
- Discretion-first contact. The form asks only for a name and a way to reach you, states plainly that inquiries are confidential, and offers a callback window instead of demanding the whole story in a text box. No chat widgets, no third-party trackers watching who visits a page about divorce or insolvency.
- Bilingual by design, not by plugin. Czech and English versions are written separately for the firm’s two client groups (local businesses and expats) with correct hreflang, so neither side reads a machine translation of the other.
- Typography does the heavy lifting. A text-heavy site lives or dies on reading comfort: comfortable line lengths, a real type scale, and pages that render instantly because there is almost nothing to download besides the words.
The numbers
Text-heavy should mean fast, and here it does: the complete page weighs 165 kB and the main content paints in under a second on a mid-range phone. The mobile PageSpeed score is a measured 100. You can verify it yourself, which is rather the point for a firm whose product is credibility.
